The stories are connected, but each can also be read as a stand alone. I have reviewed each of the books separately. The tales of romance involve so much more than just that. They tell the tales of a time, lost in time, but fresh in many minds. When the horror of war is evident, but also overshadowed, even for the briefest moment, as love and life touch those going through the horror of the events surrounding them.
