He took two long-legged strides back, and in one movement looped his arm around her waist and lifted her off the ground planting his lips on her at the same time. It was an advantageous move on his part, because in a single touch he managed to turn her legs to spaghetti. As he slanted over her lips, the chaste kiss that would have occurred in the living room with witnesses became something completely different in the solitary darkness.
She reached up both hands and placed them on either side of his face. The skin was slightly rough from the five o’clock shadow, but firm as she had expected. Bryce’s kisses had never managed to turn her inside out so quickly. Ryker was all heat, strength, and man. She now realized that was everything Bryce would have grown into given the chance. Deciding to play with fire, she snaked her tongue out along the seal of his lips. The rumbling in his chest told her he enjoyed it, but the firm stamp of disapproval on his face as he put her away from him spoke another message.
“Let’s go, I’m hungry,” he said as the shuttered expression returned to his eyes and he turned from her once more.
She felt as if her blood sugar had plummeted. Light headed, and unfocused. He was a spectacular kisser, and if she had anything to say about it, she would feel those lips again. It was a long winter, and that single memory could heat the entire season, she thought to herself as she stumbled after him.

"This anthology consists of twelve wonderful stories with the inherent theme of love and war contained in them. Out of the twelve authors, Uvi Poznansky is the only one that I was familiar with previously. So, in addition to becoming acquainted with new authors in this set, my 'to be read' pile has grown considerably. That is not a bad thing with the wind chill of a minus 10 as I write this review!!"
